I am a rising senior at Harvard University where I study Human Evolutionary Biology with an emphasis on behavior and a secondary in Music. I am home for the summer whilst working on my thesis on the evolutionary origins of music in response to war, protest, and strike. I am excited to tutor while home. As a Math graduate, I wanted to remove hesitation and fear of students for this subject and I became a Math tutor. I have taught advance Math (Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus) at High Schools and also done tutoring for these subjects. During last 8 years many of my students improved their performance and now they have become Engineers. I have also tutored students in Physics. I believe that Math is a subject of concepts and if the concepts are clear than any body can do math. I recognize that each student learns differently. It is important to me to assses the style that is best for the student. I will always differentiate the way I teach to the benefit of the pupil. If a student needs more visual aid and description, that is how I will teach them. If a different student needs manipulatives or prefers auditory lessons, I will provide that for them. I spent a lot of my work there helping high school students get ready for the math portion of the SAT, but I also worked with students on their school studies (in calculus, college and high school algebra, and geometry). I love teaching because of the feeling of helping someone who is truly struggling in class! I believe that everyone can learn, but some teachers styles don't match up with the students learning style. I am a very patient and considerate person. I am a firm believer that many students can't learn strictly through theory and need to be walked through example problems. Walking through problems gives them a better visualization of what they are trying to solve.
