My comments on tutoring Elementary Reading : Award winning Certified Tutor. Proven, extraordinary leaning strategies for learning to read. These strategies are for all age levels especially from pre-school through 3rd grade.

My style is age-appropriate: I modify my approach to accommodate age, learning level, personality and a combination of abilities and interests. My philosophy is that it is the instructor that should make adjustments on behalf of the student, not the other was around. Any good teacher can accommodate any student with the ability to understand people.
Experience includes teaching in public and private schools prior to and following tutor certification. Research for Tutor Certification focused on the study and analysis of adult learning problems stemming from poor learning and education experienced of youth. The study included exchanging past negative experiences for positive ones which substantially increases current abilities and progress. College Algebra students were in the study. Elementary Reading is one of my top subjects! Lessons include reading comprehension skills such as determining main idea, making inferences, understanding causes and effects, etc. I also teach students to use reading strategies like visualizing, making connections, and questioning.

I have been teaching in a public school in the Sugar Land area for 27 years. For the past 10 years, I have taught both regular education and GT students in the English Language Arts block. Many of my former students were waived ESL intermediate students whose grasp of reading and writing grew within the time spent in my class. The students that I tutor have always shown tremendous growth in ability and confidence. I have privately tutored several students from grades 1 through 5 with much success.
My teaching style is one of facilitator. I like to emphasize student-centered learning giving students the responsibility to take the initiative for meeting the demands of various learning tasks.
