highly motivated German student-teacher

I am very motivated. I will give my best in tutoring.
I am a German student for biology and chemistry and want to become a teacher. I have done my middle examinations here in Germany which are comparable to a Bachelor Degree. I have helped several pupils to get better marks at school here in Germany - in English and Mathmatics. I have done several internships I had to do at schools in Germany. My best experience was when I did two chemistry lessons on two days at a class in its last year at a German college (German word: Gymnasium) - on the second day (after my lesson of the first day) five pupils from other courses wanted to join my lesson - in their free period! Voluntary! The other pupils most have told them something positive about me! I was very surprized and happy.

I can help you master geography and earth science!

I have five years teaching geography at the community college level. I mostly taught physical geography (more like earth science), but also taught some human geography as well. I have had multiple short term experiences in the field that I believe make my teaching of geography, biology, and earth science more real and not abstract. As a teacher I always used technology and field trips whenever possible.
I like to bring the material "down to earth" by using examples and making comparisons between the material being taught and what the student is familiar with in the own immediate world. When teaching geography and earth science I use many examples of places with the students home region. Southern California is great for that!

MORE THAN 15 YEARS TEACHING IN PUBLIC, PRIVATE SCHOOLS, AND ONE-ON-ONE AND SMALL GROUP TUTORING EXPERIENCE. No matter what the subject is, teaching is an art, and like every art, teaching requires a great understanding of the subject and outstanding communication skills( intrinsic and extrinsic). I like to break down whatever skill I'm teaching in the simplest form at first. This means explaining the concept of the skill in a way that the student can understand what it is we are trying to do. I also try to use a pictorial representation of the skill if that is needed. After that I'll show them how I work a concept with that particular skill in order to allow them to see firsthand what the thought process is and the steps that are needed to use that particular skill. In addition, I love teaching in an environment where the student is made to feel comfortable and that their efforts are ... read more

I have professionally taught for 29 years at mostly the secondary level. Four years were spent teaching at the college level instructing allied health students in Anatomy and Physiology. During the years of High School teaching I taught Biology (basic, honors, AP), Chemistry (basic and AP), Human Anatomy and physiology, Physics, and Earth Science. One year of teaching involved Jr-high courses of science as well as algebra and geometry. Of course, formal teaching always involves informal tutoring after school when some of the best teaching occurs. Through the years I have done formal tutoring on a scheduled bases. I currently tutor a biology student twice a week.
Teaching to me has always been a passion not a job. The most important lesson for the student is to gain a desire to learn and to be lead to know how to learn. I attempt to show that learning is fun and exciting. I ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated Magna Cum-Laude from Ramapo College with a BA in English and a minor in history. Afterwards, I traveled around the world teaching. Currently I am tutoring in California, passing on my love and knowledge of the English language, literature, and other subjects to students. In addition to my background in the Humanities, I have taken several semesters of Math and Science courses. I have been tutoring students since I was employed by Ramapo and over the years have taught many different age groups and subjects.
I am flexible and patient; helping students to learn is my priority. I believe that tutoring offers an ideal relationship with the student where their specific needs and learning styles can be addressed. I feel that it is important to connect to a student's interests and imagination. To accomplish this it is necessary to teach with interest and imagination. I don't ... read more

I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching throughout my entire life. I put myself through Cal State Los Angeles, earning a Multiple Subject Credential, Special Ed. I am a very patient person, very compassionate, and have a very strong sense of fair play. I am a very dependable individual, and feel that I could be a great asset to your organization.
I have a very structured classroom, yet I believe in 'teachable moments'. I work with the children 'where they are', and make progress accordingly. I have been working on the teaching assistant position at USC for many years. My Ph.D. is in physics and have done extensive research on mathematical physics. Overall, I have the qualification to teach at this position.
Illustrative, intuitive and inductive is my 3-I's from the teaching experience. People understand things through different routes and it is not the material that is difficult, but typically it is the material doesn't ring a bell to the person's mindset. So, it is important to have the communication right and understand another person's mindset.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a huge advocate for the theory of multiple intelligences. I believe every child is capable, its just a matter of figuring out how they process information. Academic success is just one measure of growth, but whole learning is what I consider true success and I believe when the whole child is taught that academic success will invariably follow. I am Queen Patience and Queen enthusiasm. It's almost impossible not to get excited and energized when I'm around and involved. Most importantly, I teach people more than a subject, I teach them how to learn, and that is what a lifetime of success needs.
