highly motivated German student-teacher

I am a German student for biology and chemistry and want to become a teacher. I have done my middle examinations here in Germany which are comparable to a Bachelor Degree. I have helped several pupils to get better marks at school here in Germany - in English and Mathmatics. I have done several internships I had to do at schools in Germany. My best experience was when I did two chemistry lessons on two days at a class in its last year at a German college (German word: Gymnasium) - on the second day (after my lesson of the first day) five pupils from other courses wanted to join my lesson - in their free period! Voluntary! The other pupils most have told them something positive about me! I was very surprized and happy.
I am very motivated. I will give my best in tutoring.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring math and sciences since I have been a senior in college. Most recently I have worked tutoring math and science as a personal tutor in the LA area. I have also taught Biology and Earth sciences at East High School in Salt Lake City, UT for a year, and 2 years at New Community Jewish High School in West Hills, CA teaching anatomy and physiology and Chemistry.
I teach hands-on with many demonstrations and hands-on activities. I have been told by some of my past students that I made science fun for them and that science used to be their worst subject, but with me as their teacher they found it to be their favorite subject.

Teaching to me has always been a passion not a job. The most important lesson for the student is to gain a desire to learn and to be lead to know how to learn. I attempt to show that learning is fun and exciting. I learned by extensive experience to be patient with the student's effort to achieve and to be open to different approaches to bring about success in the student. Be assured that taking on the responsibility of tutoring students would be to me a most serious and committed task. Their success would be my success.
I have professionally taught for 29 years at mostly the secondary level. Four years were spent teaching at the college level instructing allied health students in Anatomy and Physiology. During the years of High School teaching I taught Biology (basic, honors, AP), Chemistry (basic and AP), Human Anatomy and physiology, Physics, and Earth Science. One year ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Learning to teach at age sixteen taught allowed me to develop my teaching style into a mature and planned method. I have taught dance classes, summer camps, and tutoring sessions. The diversity of the teaching subjects gave me insight into how students learn various material and how, for an individual group or student, a teaching style must be molded. I am an astute tutor who listens to the needs of her students and can be both patient and encouraging, varying my style in response to the needs of those I am with. Paying such close attention to my students responses I have guided many students on the path to success through the means they deemed for me to work for them.

I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching throughout my entire life. I put myself through Cal State Los Angeles, earning a Multiple Subject Credential, Special Ed. Credential, and a Reading/Language Arts Specialist Credential. I have worked and tutored many 'At Risk' students, and pupils with behavioral issues. I am a very patient person, very compassionate, and have a very strong sense of fair play. I am a very dependable individual, and feel that I could be a great asset to your organization.
I have a very structured classroom, yet I believe in 'teachable moments'. I work with the children 'where they are', and make progress accordingly. I believe in positive reinforcement, and I am very sincere with compliments. I've had much experience teaching any subject to any age K-12. A Little Bit About Me...

Having been reading since I was two it was a natural progression of events that, despite my dyslexia, I completed my BA in English Literature and thereby am intimately acquainted with all of the generas, nuances, and demands that true literacy requires. I started off college as a Micro-biology major so I have spent a good amount of time buried in the lab as well as Chaucer and Milton. I have been tutoring and helping my peers and their children for many years in science, art, history, literature and music.
I am a huge advocate for the theory of multiple intelligences. I believe every child is capable, its just a matter of figuring out how they process information. Academic success is just one measure of growth, but whole learning is what I consider true success and I believe when the whole child is taught that academic success will invariably follow. I am Queen Patience and Queen e ... read more

Illustrative, intuitive and inductive is my 3-I's from the teaching experience. People understand things through different routes and it is not the material that is difficult, but typically it is the material doesn't ring a bell to the person's mindset. So, it is important to have the communication right and understand another person's mindset.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate student at the University of California Santa Barbara I found and nurtured a love to pass-on learned experiences to others. The program I was heavily involved with was named MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement). Being an engineer, I tutored students at different High Schools and found great pleasure in seeing how other kid's faces could 'sparkle,' when they found-out that they could solve problems which they may have not even of attempted had they not felt as if someone was there with them on their 'journey of learning.'
I am a 'relaxed' teacher, but maintain - or try to maintain - a good study pace. The individual I may be tutoring may require different approaches to try and learn the material at-hand; however, I have always found that with a positive attitude and a constructive approach to any learning 'issue' the solution is normally found ... read more

Throughout the last 7 years, I have instructed children and teens in a variety of subjects. As a junior lifeguard instructor, I taught important skills such as first aid and CPR; it was here that I first began understanding how to teach children. Upon switching jobs and beginning to teach at an outdoor summer science camp, I expanded my horizons into the academic realm, not just the first aid and lifeguard realm. It was at Sarah’s Science Summer Camp that I truly began to understand the different ways in which younger minds function. At Sarah’s Science, I learned how to effectively work with each individual while continuously showing support for a group as a whole.
As a graduate of Whittier College, I have received an education unlike many. Through the 4-year liberal arts program at Whittier, I studied a vast array of subjects ranging from Math and Spanish to Business and Chem ... read more
