As a mechanical engineering graduate at USF, I have taken a wide variety of classes in a wide variety of fields that have broadened my horizon. I am currently persuing my Masters degree in mechanical engineering. Also, I have learned extensive grammatical skills as well as writing research papers and lab reports, along with other reports in my engineering backhround. During the last five years I have spent four of them tutoring classmates and peers alike in engineering as well as other fields. I have two younger brothers, ages 14 and 15, who I feel have made me that great tutor that I am today. I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia and recently completed my master's degree at the University of South Florida. My teaching style is based upon and centered around the learning style and age of the individual student. Every student learns differently. As a teacher I consider myself successful if I can not only help the student learn the required material, but can also help the student develop a learning strategy that works for them when they are working independently. While in college, I tutored students in high school in lower level math and reading. I also taught swimming to high school students. During my tenure in industry, I was able to train less experienced employees in measuring tools and their use (calipers, Mics, feeler gauges, etc,) so that they might get a better position in the company and I received accolades from the home office for my efforts. I believe in being an active teacher helping an interactive student. Let the student be a major part of the program and I will be there to guide and correct if necessary. I obtained a bachelor of science in Biological Sciences, but I was determined to strive for the best, and also wanted to obtain a greater understanding of the subject. As a result, I return to school to complete my masters in Biomedical Sciences. Although, I have never formerly tutor for an instition, I have worked with pre-teens and teens as a mentor for over a year and a half for the Youth Development Network. As a mentor, working with children as always been a passion of mine. In my experience, I know that children learn at different speeds and in different ways. But also they tend to respond better academically when they have a tutor that they are able to relate to. I will do my best to relate to all students, and working closely with them to see how they learn best and in this way we both will be successful at what we came to do.
