My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have been teaching poetry for 5 years within the school setting. Some of my students have won awards with their poetry writing.

I have been working with the school system for several years. I am currently teaching a fourth/fifth grade split. I am very experienced in working with children who are at risk, special needs, and add/adhd. I have a proven track record of student growth in core subjects of 1 year 3 months. I enjoy tutoring and teaching and I work a great deal with parents in order to keep the educational goals on the same page for their child. I have experience in both the world of sociology and psychology. I am able to adapt to behavioral issues that plague some children. I work hard to really get to know the student and help them calm themselves if they should have test anxiety etc. Every child is unique and all children have to be taught in the way in which they can truly learn. A Little Bit About Me...

I try to take a hands-on approach to teaching when possible. I find it helpful to use varied and often unusual objects and materials when teaching a lesson; it tends to make the material more memorable. However I am not above using the standard pencil/paper/textbook approach when needed.
I consider myself to be a "beginner" teacher as I have recently graduated college and received my license. I have spent roughly 500 hours in the field as a result of college course requirements, and I have successfully completed a 12 week internship (student teaching) experience. I do not have a definitive teaching style. When teaching someone, I usually try to adapt to their learning style, and if they do not have a strategy that works, I help them develop a good learning style and get comfortable with it. I like to think I make learning difficult things more fun and approachable.
