This is one of my top subjects! Latin is one of my top subjects!I have an MAT degree and have taught Latin I, II, and III for 25 years. I will gladly work with the Cambridge or Ecce Romani textbook series or with my own materials which incorporate the best of both of these. The goal of my instruction is reading knowledge of Latin as opposed to the memorization of a grammar that does not apply to English. The stories I use to teach reading classical Latin center around the everyday lives of Roman families and their slaves, not military and political events. This is the vocabulary of everyday Roman life that has passed its roots into English, and so this is the Latin that should be learned in order to enhance one's English vocabulary. Additionally, the everyday lives of the Romans were far more strange and interesting than anything that occurred on their battlefields or on the floor of their Senate. The emphases of this course are adventure and wonder.

No, absolutely no pressure at any time. Patience, patience, patience. And there can't be too much encouragement. I aim to foster a love of learning and a genuine interest in the subject matter. It really should be fun, and if it's not, I wouldn't be doing my job. 12 years of one-on one tutoring Latin and German, 5 years of teaching high school German (I have also lived and worked in Germany), and 18 years as a Latin teacher. While I have taught a wide range of subjects and ages, German and Latin are my current preferred subject areas. I have tutored, or classroom taught, language students from ages nine through adult, including married couples, and currently teach a German four hours per week teens' class.

When teaching, I take the time to learn my students' personalities and strengths. Then, I tailor a strength-based approach to teaching my students new concepts and ideas. I usually incorporate a mixture of traditional and non-traditional teaching techniques in my lesson plans. I provide structured opportunities and supports for my students to apply what they have learned. I also challenge my students to take ownership of their own learning process by incorporating leadership development and civic engagement activities into my lesson plans. I help others become their best selves. I enjoy teaching and tutoring youth and adults. Over the years, I have had opportunities to not only mentor and tutor youth, but to teach and tutor adults, as well. I have experience teaching and tutoring the following subjects: (1) Language Arts/Reading; (2) Language Arts/Writing; (3) Social Studies; (4) Ba

I have almost 10 years of experience of teaching students for the SAT,GRE, and specific subjects, combined. It started during my freshman year (1999) at Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). I tutored students through college in Biology, Chemistry and the SAT. Out of this experience, I instructed students for multiple semesters in a Biology Lab course. After I graduated from Wheaton (2003), I entered a doctoral (Ph.D.) program at Johns Hopkins Medical School to study Molecular Biology. During my time in Baltimore, I have tutored a wide range of students for the SAT with a company called StudySmart, and have also tutored students privately for the GRE at Loyola, Johns Hopkins and Goucher College. Having this experience of teaching has prepared me for a company like Advanced Learners, which is looking for committed, qualified, and experienced instructors. Being in a competitive academic en

In my current position I am creative, organized, and nurturing. I am a team player and regularly coordinate lessons with faculty in other departments at my grade level. I make class fun and meaningful for my students. I also created a workbook for my students in an effort to revive Latin in the classroom. This book has revolutionized the curriculum and has captured their interest remarkably. As a 2006 graduate of the University of Maryland, I have both student teaching and full-time teaching experience at the University and 8th grade level. Currently, I am teaching Latin to 8th grade girls at the Bryn Mawr School - an independent K-12 school. My passion and knowledge opened the opportunity to student teach at the University of Maryland during my graduate studies. I continue to serve as an adjunct instructor to this day. This position allows me to teach young adults entering the Universi

The key to teaching and learning Latin is patience. My approach combines traditional methods--for example, grammar work and vocabulary exercises--with newer methods that bring the materials alive for the students--for example, stories, word games, and projects. Nine years as a teacher has taught me a lot. Whether your student is struggling with the basics or ready to do more advanced Latin, I can help. I studied Latin and Greek as an undergraduate, as well as French, German, and Russian, because I've always loved languages, especially hard ones. For the last nine years, I have tutored Latin to students ranging from those in middle school to college students and adult learners. Wanting to pursue my study of Latin and Greek further, I took a Master's degree focusing on the later life of these languages in the Middle Ages and how they grew into modern languages. I'm now a lecturer in Latin

I graduated from high school as number eleven in rank out of 248. I often assisted other students in both high school and college. Later, as a homeschooling mother of four, I taught all of my children all subjects through the eighth grade level. I just returned from the island of Saipan, where I taught high school English in a private school, and seventh grade English in a public school. I presently am a certified substitute teacher in the Cumberland County, PA, public school system, where I teach almost all grade levels and subjects. I far prefer private tutoring over formal teaching, as I believe my abilities are put to their greatest use in that setting. I absolutely love working with students one-on-one. It's what I do best. Because of my experience in teaching my own children, I have discovered that no child is too young to learn. Often people will not consider an infant or toddler

As a daughter of a professor I have learned that studying and learning is one of the most important things in life. Knowledge is priceless and a good that no one can take from you. Therefore I was very ambitious in university. I have started off with International Development but continued my Masters in Arabic in less than two years, because I was so focused and interested. During school I found out that one of the best ways to learn is to teach others. That was the point when I found that teaching was my call. Teaching is more than just transferring your knowledge to somebody else, it is sharing a different point of view a new culture and exploring new things. My interpersonal skills are my best asset, I am patient and fun, but when it comes to the important aspects like studying I can also be strict and focused, which I think are important aspects in each learning process. I want
