A Little Bit About Me...

At Adult Basic and Literature Education, I serve as a math and grammar tutor in the GED and ESOL programs. Also, I assist the students on how to obtain basic computer techniques so that they can operate the computer. I am able to communicate with Spanish-speaking students and read French. As for my technical, web designing, and software knowledge, I have a background in computer troubleshooting, Adobe Photoshop, HMTL, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etcetera. For five years, I was a substitute teacher for grades K-5 in English as a Second Language, Special Education and Art classes. I used my communication skills to converse with and to translate Spanish/English language. I Have been a teacher since 2002. I have had various experience in teaching students diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, OCD, PDD, ODD, as well as other learning, social, emotional, and behavioral disabilities. I have a son who was born with neurofibromatosis is accompanied by a learning disability. My son is now 18 and in his last year of High School. He has been in special education courses since 2nd grade once being diagnosed with his learning challenges. He has had an active IEP since that time and I have worked very closedly with him throughout his school years. I have worked with him on every subject, every project, and encouraged him along the way. Due to his learning and physical disabilities, he has very low self esteem and this causes him to rebel during most homework sessions.
