A Little Bit About Me...

At Adult Basic and Literature Education, I serve as a math and grammar tutor in the GED and ESOL programs. Also, I assist the students on how to obtain basic computer techniques so that they can operate the computer. I am able to communicate with Spanish-speaking students and read French. As for my technical, web designing, and software knowledge, I have a background in computer troubleshooting, Adobe Photoshop, HMTL, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etcetera. For five years, I was a substitute teacher for grades K-5 in English as a Second Language, Special Education and Art classes. I used my communication skills to converse with and to translate Spanish/English language. I have a great joy in teaching student new skills and information and love to see how they catch on, in other words, have that light bulb moment.

A Little Bit About Me...

My son, as I stated earlier can be rebellious, so I have to be very patient with him and always stay positive. I constantly tell him how smart he is, how well he is doing, and I always point out his accomplishments and tell him where more work is needed. This style to me is important when working with any child, positive reinforcement and contant encouragement is needed.
I have a son who was born with neurofibromatosis is accompanied by a learning disability. My son is now 18 and in his last year of High School. I have experience working with learners of all ages. My earliest classroom experiences while studying at Kent State were with Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes, and I have substituted in classrooms all the way up through high school. I have worked with adults in a GED prep and ESL environment, and my certification/area of expertise is with adolescent and young adult learners.
