When I was a high school kid, I finished the highest math class during grade 11. Since I was so good at mathematics, my teachers suggested me to tutor my classmates in math and science. Later, my study in the University of Connecticut has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science, especially mathematics. My ultimate aim would be to teach the student how to successfully learn on his own. I would first determine the set of circumstances unique to each student. For example, are they far behind their class or just having problems grasping some concepts? I would modify my teaching style depending on the situation, but in general I identify facts that need to be memorized and concepts that need to be understood. We would work through material, in a textbook, for example. Finally the student must apply logic and related skills (algebra, for example) needed for problem solving. Problem solving ties facts and concepts together and brings a deeper comprehension of and familiarity with the subject.
