A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is a very important part of learning; it is an ongoing process that is active and not static. My style of teaching is less conventional than most at a large university due to my liberal arts undergraduate education. I think that many students learn different ways and it is important to let the learner control the learning process. As an instructor you provide guidance and an outline for success, but that outline should be adapted to the individual. Teaching should involve many different approaches that set the student up for success. I strive to help my students change their own lives through education
As an undergraduate student I worked at a general science and math tutor as well as a class specific calculus I tutor. I was teaching assistant for calculus I for two semesters and ran a study table for the athletic department for student with a GPA less than 2.5. As a ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently a medical student at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth. Before I started medical school I worked as a tutor for six years with two teenage boys with autism. I also spent a semester as a Teaching Assistant in an upper level Philosophy course during my undergrad. Most of my TA tutoring was helping college students write papers.
I tend to teach things in a visual way. Drawing pictures, diagrams and using visual aides are the best ways I have witnessed to teach kids. I also think a structured reward system is HUGE in motivating kids to succeed. You need to find o ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

From childhood, "playing" school was a passion! Afforded an excellent education by teachers, mentors, spiritual guides and community leaders - I'm thrilled to meet today's promising learners with the same measure of affirmation. Every child is talented and gifted. The teacher's role is to design a context for success within which problems are resolved, obstacles dismantled, weaknesses strengthened and doors opened for continued enrichment.
In my Senior Honors study, I worked with a group of special needs children. I matched nontraditional learning methods to identify and develop talents and interests. I have taught music privately, for music stores, and taught and assisted with music in public and parochial schools. My teaching Internship was at Robbinsdale High School in art and commercial design. I served as Teaching Assistant to the Dean of Students while earning m ... read more
