I liken tutoring sessions to the repair of a crumbling pyramid. I believe that every student is capable of learning and understanding the material that is presented to them in class, but that due to some reason, he or she does not understand some of the basic concepts that later material adds onto. Hence, the base of their pyramid is unstable. Usually in the first tutoring session, I try to gauge where the student is supposed to be in the material while at the same time trying to figure out where the missing foundation stones are. Once key concepts are explained, I then give students some examples to bolster their confidence and to be sure that they have learned the material. I was varsity captain of my high school math team and led tutoring sessions for algebra, geometry, trigonometr

Most children open up more when they feel the teacher understands. I would love to help change a childs life. I graduated from Paine College with a BA. While in college I had the opportunity to experience working with many different students. My social work degree has allowed me to gain knowledge in areas such as: working with homeless people, working with children that came from unstable households, and much more. In addition I joined a sorority which has allowed me to
