I liken tutoring sessions to the repair of a crumbling pyramid. I believe that every student is capable of learning and understanding the material that is presented to them in class, but that due to some reason, he or she does not understand some of the basic concepts that later material adds onto. Hence, the base of their pyramid is unstable. Usually in the first tutoring session, I try to gauge where the student is supposed to be in the material while at the same time trying to figure out where the missing foundation stones are. Once key concepts are explained, I then give students some examples to bolster their confidence and to be sure that they have learned the material.

I have taught in several educational settings but prefer a multiple intelligence, hands on approach. I am good at one on one. I am patient, flexible and dedicated to success. I have taught 14 years from Elementary to high school. I am very skilled as a writing and language arts teacher but have also taught special ed (certified) in elementary and high school. I have most of my experience in elementary ed.
