I currently hold a cerification for grades K-8. I have a total of 18 years working in the education field as a classroom teacher, a administrator, professional development consultant and a college professor. I am currently working as a college professor and a professional development consultant. I specialize in reading instruction. I am completing doctorate in reading. I have years as a reading instructor and find teaching reading to be my passion. I firmly believe all children can learn to read. For the past 30 years, I have worked with special needs students. I believe that students learn at their educational level. The problem with education today, is that students are often in classrooms that stress learning at their frustration level. Many students are in general ed settings, but are forced to use materials that they do not fully understand. In my role as a teacher consultant, I adapted materials so the students could understand it. If chosen as a tutor, I would do the same so the students would learn at their education level. I have earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education for All Subjects, K-8th grades. I have over 20 years of experience as a teacher. I always put 110% in everything I do, especially when it comes to teaching my students. Furthermore, I have 20 credits towards a Masters Degree in Reading and Language Arts and I continued to further my education by attending my local community college to learn about Microsoft Works, Economic and Accounting classes. Currently, I am a certified Teacher, who is the Program Director of a Latchkey Program at my school. Lastly, I am consistently updating and honing my skills as a teacher by attending several workshops each year. The first time I knew I wanted to be a teacher was in 2nd grade. My teacher truly inspired me and I knew from that day on that that was my calling in life. I strive everyday to be the best teacher I can be to my students.
