As a teacher, I care about students. I believe that positive encouragement is the way to motivate. I worked as a private/public school teacher to provide each student that I worked with the academic/social support that was needed. I used my background in child development to motivate students to work to their potential. I have a very unique teaching style that enables my students to have fun while learning. I can easily see the individual needs of all of the students I teach. Each and every student that I teach is first and foremost a human being. I treat them as I would like my own children to be treated. I understand that what will appeal to one child will not necessarily work with another. A Little Bit About Me...

I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring than most. I believe I'm an effective tutor because I remember the exact same difficulties and questions I had as a student and can relate to their frustration. Most people as well as myself are visual learners thus I teach by working several examples and gradually increasing the difficulty at a pace set by the student. I have earned two Associate Applied Sciene degres in General Office Technology and Early Childhood Educaiton,which have helped me to have a desire to help young people excel in life. Currently I assist student with working to achieve their GED or Adult High school Diploma. No one is too old to learn.

While attending Lenoir Community College, I was named to the Dean's List several semesters, named Outstanding Student of the Month, and listed in Who's Who Among Junior College Students. I graduated with an Associate in Arts Degrees in English and in Elementary, Middle Grades and Special Education. I am currently employed by the State of North Carolina as a Youth Counselor where I have extensive experience with students with diagnosises such as ADD,ADHD and ODD. I am an experienced Substitute Teacher for the Lenoir County School System and formerly was employed by Sylvan Learning Centers as a tutor for grades 3 through 12. I will graduate from Fayetteville State University on December 11, 2010 with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology.
