I love teaching. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a child. I believe that all children can learn. I teach using a lot of hands-on experiments as well as a lot of peer tutoring. After our Math lesson, my students work on an Independent Practice and once they get it checked, they are allowed to help others. I believe all children can learn. I have learned that even though I am the teacher, there are several other teachers in the classroom. I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring than most. I believe I'm an effective tutor because I remember the exact same difficulties and questions I had as a student and can relate to their frustration. Most people as well as myself are visual learners thus I teach by working several examples and gradually increasing the difficulty at a pace set by the student. Children have the ability to learn in a variety of ways. I learn the appropiate way to aide a student in their studies by observing their technique of solving a problem and helping them explore the problem. I show students how to break down the problem in various ways to help them better understand it. Some students need to work with a tutor on several problems; others may need a song or visual representations to help them understand a problem.
