I believe anyone can learn and their quality of knowledge improved by finding a level and rapport that works for each individually. I work patiently, with humor, and at a pace with students that helps them to feel not only comfortable but appreciated for their efforts. I consider a key ingredient to be to first find what base levels of knowledge the student has before plunging into the subject at hand. Once this base has been assessed, then it is much easier to explain the principles and methods required to solve most any problems. As a SUNY school graduate with a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education I have had many experiences with educating the youth. During my studies I was able to tutor for a program called Upward Bound. I tutored students in many subjects in order to get them ready for college. In order to complete my degree at SUNY Potsdam I had the experience of student teaching. I was able to work with three different teachers and teach three different subjects including, pre-calculus, statistics, and algebra. I took on a full sixteen weeks of the teacher’s workday.
