My teaching style is very specific to each student I tutor. I try to tailor my thoughts so that any student at any level in the subject can understand me. At the teaching center, the focus was to help guide the student to get the correct answer and not just give the answer. Sometimes the thinking process to achieving the correct answer is more important than the answer itself. I also try using diagrams and figures when they are called for to explain some of the topics. I frequently use positive reinforcement so the student feels even more encouraged to learn.
As a microbiology student at the University of Florida, I have taken rigorous courses in the sciences as well as math. I like to base my teaching like martial arts, teach the information by showing how its done, then use examples of it directly involving the student, and later having them try to see if they caught on or if they may need more assistance. The best way I learned to study was to see the information visually in a repetitive manner and practice many problems. However, I know that children are different in the ways they study; some may need an auditory or hands on approach and not just visual.
