Reading Comprehension Tutor Seeks New Learners!

I have over thirty years of experience in the field of both Elementary and Secondary Education. I have taught in several Elementary and Secondary schools and also as a Public Historical Interpreter in a major museum here in North Carolina. Currently I am an experienced Reading Comprehension Tutor at an award winning elementary school located in Western North Carolina.
I believe in working closely with parents,guardians and students. I meet the student where there are and assist and support them in understanding the subject. Reading Comprehension is a new skill of mine and I have two years of experience in the field. 25 years of experience in a private Christian school, teaching ages 4 - 12 yrs. - have taught all subjects - especially enjoy English and writing 2 years of tutoring an autistic child in a school setting and also in a home setting Children's ministry at church for 30 years tutoring an adult in Spanish ( I have 3 years of learning Spanish through a computer course. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1999 from University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Elementary Education and Communications. I am also National Board Certified in area of Middle Childhood Generalist. I am certified 6-9 and 9-12 English. I have taught 4th grade for 2 years, 5th grade for 5 years, 6th grade for 1 year, 7th and 8th grades for 3 years, 9 and 10th grades for 1 year and 11 and 12th grades for 2 years.
I believe all children can learn and that it is the responsibility of the teacher to reach the student. I develop relationships with my students and make learning real for them. I have always thought of myself as a progressive teacher. I always thought children could learn to do anything they were asked to do. I always loved learning and felt it was my obligation to instill the same in all my students, no matter what age.
