I have never worked as a tutor before in my life, but I have help tutor students at no charge since high school. I have been asked by students who are my younger siblings, friends, and even people that I have known for a short period of time. I have worked with preschoolers and children K-8. Furthermore, I have tutored in Reading Comprehension, Math, Writing Skills, and Spanish. I have worked as an Office Manager, where I used Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Data Entry programs. Tutoring children in Reading Comprehension gave me great satisfaction because most of them made great improvements, and were able to raise their grades in this subject. I also taugh phonics, vocabulary and grammar to English Learners. Moreover, I teach children ages 10-13 bible classes. I volunteer at St. Joachim Church in Madera California. I also tutored students 7-8 Reading Comprehension, Writing Skills and Math (Basic Math, Algebra). I hold a Substitute Teaching Permit, and I was able to pass the CBEST exams, which consists of Reading Comprehension, Math, and Writing Skills.

I am currently finishing my first year in college. I have a High School diploma and an award as an AP Scholar. I enjoy math and I am passing my DS-71 math course with an A at Fresno State. I have recently declared my second major in teaching mathematics. In college, I am ahead by a semester since I transferred over 36 units for my degree. Volunteer and worker at camp Kids Inc for two and a half years. Read to elementary students 3 times a week and help them with reading comprehension. Volunteered to be a mentor to a junior high girl. I helped her with advice but also just was a support for her when she needed it. Worked at a sports team camp teaching little kids from the ages of kindergarten through sixth grade how to play volleyball. Students must understand that they have come to me to learn more. But I also want to enjoy the time I have with them so they feel like learning is fun.

My teaching 'style' is a bit unique, in my opinion. By that, I mean that every child/student 'learns' differently, so I must 'adapt' my style 'on the fly' after determining what is the most effective approach/style/method for that individual student. In addition, the subject that I am teaching also affects my style and some 'tools' that I learned as a youngster and a teacher are also implemented frequently. I was trained to be a teacher at CSU-Fresno, where I graduated in May, 1999. I substituted for 3 consecutive years in Fresno, Clovis, and Madera Unified School districts at grade levels 3-12. I received my Master's Degree in Sports Administration from the American Public University system in May, 2011, and graduated with Honors and a 4.0 GPA.
