I am a visual learner, and so my first approach to teaching is using visual aids. I usually draw, use diagrams, or try to paint a mental picture for my students of what I'm trying to teach them. I am excellent at explaining complex terms so any layperson can understand them. I have only worked with teenage/young 20s people, so have less experience with a younger crowd. It is very important to let children know that there is no wrong or right way of doing their work, as long as it is done correctly. They also need to know that their methods are their own. Children needs reassurance. When A childs' work is not done to one's full potential, it is not my strategy to make them feel like less of a child. It is however, my strategy to work with that child until he/she understands WHY the work was not done correctly, and then let him/her correct the work themself.
