My teaching style is to listen to the student and let them try to work the problem out. If they can't figure the problem out, I give them a similar example to follow and let them use that problem as a model. There is normally a protocol or steps to follow in math. I lead them through the steps using that example. Then they go back to their original problem and normally can do it better. Other subjects require reading like history or economics. I ask them to go back and look more carefully at their reading if they can't get the answers to their questions. In English, I teach them grammar rules and the structure of the 5 paragraph essay. Academic Tutor: I assist students in learning their academics. Some are homeschooling where I help cover all subjects. Others are college students and cover one or two subjects. WSU Learning Center Coordinator: I managed WSU Tri-Cities’s ... read more

I have 2 years experience in tutoring high-school and college-level math and computer science (programming and database design) while studying computer science in college from 1996-1998. During that time I also taught small classes in computer usage (email and internet) at the Kennewick Senior Center. I later earned a bachelor degree in math at Portland State University in 2004, participating in study groups there. My recent work experience was in help desk, drafting, and geographic information systems. I like to start tutoring students by determining what the student's strengths and weaknesses are and building a strategy from there. When a student doesn't understand a new concept, I like to go through every step of the process with them to figure out where the stumbling block is, using a variety of ways to explain the concept to assess which strategy works best for each student. I will graduate this summer with a doctorate of arts in Mathematics. I have taught a total of 14 undergraduate-level mathematics courses in a broad range of subject ranging from developmental math to linear algebra. As an undergraduate, I worked part time in the Idaho State University tutoring center tutoring mathematics up to the calculus 3 level. I am a very energetic and interactive teacher. I am quite patient with my students and try to use many different techniques to allow for different learning styles. I find that I can effectively motivate my students and get them excited about math.

As a graduate from University of Idaho, I was very much driven to reach a higher level of excellence in education, leadership, and support of my peers. I have earned a BS in Chemistry, which has allowed me to gain an understanding in many levels of science, not only how in how to learn but how to adapt those lessons for others. During the last eight years, throughout high school and college, I have tutored students in Engineering, psychology, mathematics, chemistry and biology. While much of my tutoring and teaching came through the University, I was also the Inter Fraternal Council study table coordinator, which required finding a way to teach a lot of non-science majoring students as well. I love teaching and working with all students. I believe everyone can learn, no matter the difficulties faced in the past or present. I educate on the belief that because everyone is unique, everyo

My experience as a teacher has given me the opportunity to teach math, science, history, literature, reading and writing to a very diverse group of students. These students vary in development, both academically and socially, and I adjust my delivery of instruction to meet the needs of all. I continue to work with students who function above, on and below grade level expectations and together we meet or exceed the classroom teacher’s expectations. In following Constructivist methods of instruction, we use class discussion, open ended questions and cooperative learning to facilitate a highly interactive and inquisitive classroom atmosphere. In my instruction I apply research-based strategies, theories, new techniques, and modern methods of instruction. I put a lot of thought and work in to creating my lesson plans. This can be seen in the detail that I provide on each plan. I pay car

Teaching is one of my hobbies I enjoy the most. I always believe that one grows in knowledge by teaching to others what one knows. Since High School, I have been involved in tutoring my peers and my junior in Math, Physics, English, and French. When I was a student at Bellevue College, I tutored a number of students with their French assignment. Even though French is neither my first language nor my second language, I received my High School diplomat in a French school. Therefore, I'm writing, reading and speaking skills is advanced Moreover, I love tutoring students who are from low-income family. I volunteered my time at my local community helping children in Math. As a new graduate, I learned the most updated software and hardware compatible with the growth of IT industries. During the school year, I acquired a strong knowledge base through my course work and extensive experience
