UCLA English grad; experience teaching both English and Math

I majored in English Literature and Writing at UCLA, with a focus on British Pre-Reformation Classics, as well as Shakespeare's 1st and 2nd portfolios. I also won 1st Place in the university's Westwind Writing Competition, taking home top prize for Non-Fiction entry. I have experience working on the school newspaper, The Daily Bruin, and extensive journalism experience. To earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University Of Notre Dame, I had to be a Renaissance class-taker. Math, Science, and foreign language were all required for anyone to graduate. My major was Film, Television, and Theater, but many Literature and History classes were also all required. Writing is my strength, as I wrote and directed the school's biggest comedy show and ran the school's comedy newspaper. I taught guitar lessons to my neighbors for about 5 years and I taught CCD for four years. In college, I often helped student-athletes write papers for various classes. My methods are constructive and encouraging. I start from the beginning, then progress one step at a time, eventually arriving at the finished product. A strong subject foundation will give the student more confidence and better skills to handle the harder classes they will encounter down the road., if they are currently in the harder classes, reviewing the beginning steps before conquering the latter ones would allow the student to make a smooth transition between concepts. I explain the concepts of the material in detail, work through several examples with the student, then allow them to work through it on their own while answering any questions they may have along the way.
