I go by Matt. I have been tutoring for the past 10 years and have had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students having different skills and skill sets. After years of tutoring it has become clear that the best way to help improve a student's understanding in a subject area is by being able to give them the individualized attention and guidance that they may need. Because I am able to communicate with a diverse array of people and because of my proficiency in teaching the subject matter I intend to teach, I am able to reach out to my students and help them think critically while getting them to become more self-reliant in problem solving. This is partly due to my versatile teaching style as well as my ability to help my students think outside the box, especially as this applies to understanding complex mathematical concepts as well as being able to solve multi-ste ... read more

We provide excellent customer service, possibly immediate or same day for homework help or project completion. Online tutoring is also available with a shared online whiteboard for step-by-step problem solving. We can then use this to change the way a student thinks about a subject resulting in continual improvement and achievement. My comments on tutoring PSAT : math

I'm a graduate of UCLA Engineering with a passion for explaining how the physical world works through math and physics along with 14 years of tutoring experience in those subjects, test prep, and mentorship programs. The teaching strategy I believe in emphasizes subject fundamentals, a powerful and necessary tool for higher problem solving. This strategy has proven very effective regardless of the student's educational background or mental ability. Besides being knowledgeable, I am motivating, caring, and patient in guiding your student to academic success! EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING: Executive Functioning is a separate realm that tutoring can assist in. It deals with cognitive processes including organization, time management, and study skills. Much of the difficulty students face in academic subjects can be attributed to the lack of executive functioning. They either cannot keep up w ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Well, every student is different, so I guess I would have to call my teaching style adaptive. You can't teach a person anything until you learn how they learn. So that's exactly what I do. We figure out the best way for them to learn then I allow them to learn in the most natural way possible.
My experience in learning assistance is mainly from college. There I soon learned that while the professors knew a great deal, conveying that knowledge to students was not always their forte. I found myself leading groups working on homework assignments and studying for tests. It was very natural when I became an official tutor for the physics department. I also became a lab instructor for our 1st year physics as well as Modern(20th century) physics. I've also tutored privately: high school calculus and physics.

Having completed my graduate studies in Special Education with an Option in Transition Studies, I feel that California State University, Los Angeles has done a superior job at preparing me for teaching and realizing each person's individual skills, needs and learning styles. My skills in teaching and tutoring were evidenced during my undergraduate studies in Linguistics at University of California, Santa Barbara where my English professor picked me out of a large group of writers and recommended me to be a writing tutor for the university. There, as a sophomore writing tutor for my peers and those years ahead of me (juniors and seniors) I realized my intense dedication and ease at coaching others in writing technique.
