I taught him how to read and write he could not accomplish that on his own. He was 11 at the time and I think with kids you have to be creative to teach them and I am very creative. This is a necessity to begin learning other concepts with any subject. Second, any rules, equations, procedures or the "how to" come into play. The learn how to use the definitions or formulas they learned. Third, examples are necessary.
