A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past few years, I have worked with students who have come from a wide range of age groups and mathematical skill levels. I believe this has helped me develop an ability to sense where a student is in his or her understanding of math, which, in turn, allows me to communicate on a level that he or she will be able to comprehend. One goal I have is to teach in a way that is neither too challenging nor too boring for the individual student. I find that I am most effective in my teaching when the student wants to do well in math. I strive to ensure that the student leaves each study session having achieved all of the goals that he or she set out to meet.

I have seven years experience as an electrical engineer. I love my job but I also love working with and helping students achieve. My wife is a high school English teacher and she has many students that will often need my help with math and sciences. I enjoy working with the students because it is important that they learn the value of math and science and understand the many opportunities that being successful in these subjects can provide. I have tutored elementary students during my tenure in the Air Force on a volunterr basis. I worked as a Introduction to Computers instructor at Keiser College for two semesters. I have a fascination with math and numbers. My extensive experience with budgeting and using spreadsheets and formulas has kept me fresh with my math skills. I recently tutored a 50+ adult to take a math skills test for the CRC. He passed, and was had such a sense of accomplishment, after almost giving up hope that he could pass it.
I love to learn, and love passing that on to others. I am a patient personality, and I may present a problem to a student to evaluate where they are. As a Math graduate, I wanted to remove hesitation and fear of students for this subject and I became a Math tutor. I have taught advance Math (Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus) at High Schools and also done tutoring for these subjects. During last 8 years many of my students improved their performance and now they have become Engineers. I have also tutored students in Physics.
I believe that Math is a subject of concepts and if the concepts are clear than any body can do math. Making concepts clear depends on the teacher who analyze the understading of each individual and teaches him accordingly.

While attending high school at South panola, I tutored every subject at the school and at the boys and girls club for four years. I have earned a BS in Chemistry with a minor in Math. During my tenured at the ole miss I tutored at oxford and other local schools through a program called Family literacy, which is a progam to help educate kids of all ages. So, I have tutored kids for the past 8-9 years.
Helping and teaching children of all ages is a very rewarding job. I love to help people learn. My teaching style various with each student.
