I am currently a general music teacher at Samsula Academy, an elementary school in New Smyrna Beach, FL. I teach general music classes to students in grades K-5, as well as chorus and band. I received my Bachelor's degree from Marywood University in Scranton, PA and began my Master's studies at University of Central Florida. My teaching style adapts to the students current level of knowledge. I always model 2 or 3 problems step by step before asking the student to try a problem. A student is comfortable knowing that I have "their backs" and won't let them be frustrated for long. This gives a student confidence to try problems on their own.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a passion for education, whether it is teaching youth or adults. I have gained about 3 additional years of teaching and now am working in a higher education setting. I hold a degree in special education which focused on the needs of learning disabled students, though required I still maintain the same knowledge of a licensed educator. I prefer to work with children who have learning disabilities and/or with a dislike for education. I find that my teaching style is interesting to this particular type of student. I acknowledge the childs dismay in learning and I allow them to help me to adjust the teaching material to a teaching style that best suits the childs learning style. Science and english are subjects that many children don't enjoy. I make it much easier for them to learn the subject and then we expound thier knowledge from there.

My teaching style is all about application and functionality. How do I apply it to real life situations, so that the student can better remember it. That is my first train of thought when presenting material. With math, the key to math is take it one step at a time.
