A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is not typical since I am not a certified teacher. I am creative in my teaching style using a variety of techniques. I understand that each child and person learns differently (Auditory, Visual, Tactile) so I try to discover their style and incorporate as much as possible. I try to teach using real life experiences and examples. I break things down into simple parts before moving on to the next level. I believe that it is important to instill confidence in the student which raises expectations and increases motivation. I am very patient with a good sense of humor.
I obtained my BA in Social Work and have worked in that field since 1993. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is basic. I feel it is most important for a student to grasp the basics before they can move on to more complicated subject material. I also am a strong believer of parental involvement. A parent knows their children's learning patterns best. I like to use different approaches. Activities that are visually and mentally stimulting help to form a connection between the student and the lesson. It is important to me that each of my student's set and acheive goals.
As a high school student, I attended Tiffin University to gain college experience and credit earlier than expected. I have 25+ years in education primarily with grades 1-8. I am currently a Library Media Specialist. I have experience working with children one on one or in small groups. I am comfortable with technology, teaching reading, phonics and math.
I enjoy working with students and have had good success motivating students to excel. I especially empathize with students who do learn in the "cookie cutter" environment of traditional schools. Each student learns differently and can achieve success when their unique learning style is emphasized.
