Working with the children transformed my life and taught me the importance of knowledge.

My undergraduate experience was weighted equally between the science classes necessary for entry into veterinary school, and my passion for the written word, which I pursued through the Oregon State University Honor's college. Veterinary school reinforced my knowledge in all the life sciences, in addition to honing my study skills.

An English major at Carleton College, I mastered the art of putting thoughts on paper to persuade, compare, or explicate; as well as how to read for meaning. Later at the Sorbonne in Paris, I transferred these talents to French. I have since taught and tutored reading, writing, and speaking in both languages in the U.S. and abroad.
