I was an Instructional Assistant/SH for the Tulare County Office of Education (TCOE). I'm now an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, when needed. I worked for TCOE for over 17 years. I tutor people of all ages in math, English, music, ASL, and more! I am now a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for the developmentally disabled adults. I help with them in their homes and out locally. You can pretty much call me one of their careproviders. I do ASL interpreting every Sunday at my church, so I can't say I don't ever use my ASL. While pursuing my Master's degree, I taught several sections on Civil Engineering principles. I also held office hours to tutor students in any other classwork where they were in need of assistance. Subjects ranges from physics to structural mechanics to hydrology to fluid mechanics.
My teaching style is perhaps not as Socratic as I would prefer. I first elucidate the principles being considered, and then use a practical means to illustrate and work with that principle. I like to have the student learn to derive what is being taught for themselves. That way the material will stay with them. Grounding the material being learned in some real-life experience makes knowledge meaningful and useful. That is what I endeavor to achieve.

I graduated from CSU Fresno with a BA in Chemistry and a BS in Biology. Since then, I have been a substitute teacher for two months for elementary school grades k-8. For the las year I have been a substitute teacher for the Tulare Joint Union High School District. Although I have subbed for many subjects, I specialize in both math and sciences. I have subbed long term for two weeks for Calculus BC and Precalculus, long term for three weeks for Chemisty, and long term for Algebra 1 for eight weeks.
