My passion is my teaching. I have used my BS in Chemistry to work in the technical, sales and EH & S fields in industry. I have spent the last fifteen years training engineers and technicians in the industrial world. After my children graduated from college in the summer of 2008, I went back to school and earned my teaching credential in Secondary Education-Science. My enthusiasm for teaching applied science and mathematics to young students has given me high marks in my Graduate program. My innovative approach to tutoring is using the Sokratic Method while transcribing the results of the process. All questioning and answering derived from this method is meticulously and clearly documented on paper and in audio (later burned to a CD) for the pupil to refer back to as study material. This is a powerful study tool after the pupil's knowledge has been scrutinized, as it helps them visualize and review their thinking and learning. Slowly but surely the pupil begins to develop better study skills and a deeper understanding of the material he/she wishes to learn. For the past several years, I have been working full time as a researcher in the field of condensed matter physics. Before that, while a graduate fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, I acted as an instructor in laboratory skills and assisted teaching classes in both the physics department and the Wharton School of Business. In addition, I worked regularly with a National Science Foundation program to train high school teachers in the latest advances in nanotechnology.
