A Little Bit About Me...

I earned both of my degrees while working and caring for very young children. I feel this was possible because of my time management skills and determination to see a task through to completion. I have worked in the accounting or banking industry for over thirty years and truly love working with numbers. I fell in love with accounting in high school, finishing the semester project in about a month and a half and never looked back. I also feel that many of the concepts that accounting teaches are valuable in life even if accounting is not the career path chosen.

Most of my experience is working with students who have issues beyond a normal student whether it be learning disabilities, behavior problems,or emotional/phsychological issues. I have taught in many alternative school settings, but I have also taught in main stream schools, both public and private. I have successfully taught students to read and write when the system had given up on them, and on the flip side of the coin, I have taught advanced placement/honors students. I have taught grades seven through twelve.

A Little Bit About Me...

While attending Birmingham Southern College, I had several teaching experiences: I volunteered as a tutor at a nearby elementary school, tutored in my college's writing center, and worked for three summers as a camp counselor. After receiving a BA in English, I taught high school English conversation in Hungary for a year. My ultimate goal is to teach English at a university, but I love working with primary and secondary schoolers. A Little Bit About Me...

I would say my teaching style is more relaxed. I believe this helps one see students weaknesses and strengths better. It also allows one to compare the overall effect of teaching for each student. When I see a student falling behind then thats when I take action and try top get them where they should be in that area.
My experience is one that has taken me many different places to meet many diffrent people. I have always had a gift of helping others and conveying to them my knowledge.
