Sculpting is one of my top subjects! Sculpting was my ongoing art elective. I'm comfortable teaching the basics and getting someone familiar with the tools and materials of the trade. A lot of drawing foundation comes into play in sculpting as well.

Considering my own relative youth, the best approach would be to encourage them pursue the subject matter of their choice while also providing the foundations to do so on a more advanced level.

My comments on tutoring Sculpting : found object, wire, soldering

I worked for an organization called AS220. It is an arts organization with a youth program that works inside the juvenile detention facility and also has a community program for youth in group homes and recently released from prison. My first position was incorporated art into the curriculum of classrooms in the juvenile detention facility to enhance the learning experience of the students by making it hands-on. My end position was as Managing Director. During that time, I studied and implemented art programs to teach job readiness skills and finding innovative ways for learning to take place. Since that time, I have spent the last 3 years as an events manager on a cruise ship, seeing places all over the world. I have also co-lead a 2 1/2 week canoe trip with 6 teenagers. My diverse life experiences and teaching experiences have provided me a diverse skill set to help any student with th ... read more

More About This Tutor...

Attitude is the biggest obstacle when trying to learn something new. I try to make the learning process as fun and interesting as possible. When a student is struggling, I believe it is vital to build their confidence towards success. It is important to not make them feel overwhelmed, but to show them how to conquer a problem step by step. I can help provide the tools that your child needs to realize his/her ability.
While earning my BA in economics from The University of Texas, I also completed all my pre-med courses. This has provided me with a strong background in mathematics, social sciences, and natural sciences. I have always had a strong aptitude for integrating concepts from different disciplines and exploring how they relate to one another. This skill is useful when explaining new ideas to other students in terms that they can relate to.
