A Little Bit About Me...

What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. However, this method is not predominately taught in Georgia education system. I have found this method to be very effective. The other method is patience. Students who strugge with their academic learning usually are having other areas of difficulty which may be social learning. Having clinical training allows me to make a more accurate assessment.

My style of teaching involves discussion, reading, writing, and hands on. if possible. I strive to get my students to feel comfortable which I find brings out creative thinking. I have experience teaching students with slow or difficult learning abilities and students with handicaps such as blind or deaf. My department dean saw my abilities in working with special needs students and placed the students in my classes. I believe one-on-one teaching builds trust with students and relaxes them. I motivate students by installing a positive outlook in the students mind.
