My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : Experience in teaching Kindergarten and First grades grammar.

Each child has different learning abilities. Hands on is the best type of teaching.
I got my B.S. degree in Elementary Education in 2004. I am very eager to help children learn. Children are like sponges, they soak up a wealth of information at such a young age. My experience consists of working as a long term sub for third and fourth grades in Fredericktown, Missouri. I have also substituted in the Pasadena ISD, Channelview ISD, and Sheldon ISD. I have taught all ages. From Kindergarten to High School students. My degree concentration is in history. But, I prefer to help with reading, phonics, vocabulary, spelling, and math.

A Little Bit About Me...

The most important thing about my teaching style is that I believe every child can achieve academic excellence and can be interested in learning. I believe that it is up to me, as a teacher or a tutor, to engage the student(s). A huge part of this is being very transparent about where the student starts, what our goals are for where they are going, and how they are doing along the way. I love working with students to figure out what gets them excited and how they learn best so I can incorporate these strategies into my teaching. I know that by getting students interested and excited about their education, I am helping create lifelong learners who are on a great path in school and in life!
My passion for education blossomed while volunteering as a tutor with Somali refugee children in Pittsburgh, PA during college. I worked with families in their homes to develop English reading, wr ... read more

Teaching has always been a passion of mine. Whether in the eyes of children or adults, the light of new knowledge enkindles success. I prefer an interactive style of teaching which engages as many senses as possible. Every person deserves success, especially in their search for knowledge. I perceive it is my responsibility to create an environment and the opportunity to foster success in that search. I am gregarious and enthusiastic. I exhibit a contagiously high level of energy in the classroom. Whether working one or one or in a group, I demonstrate a high level of competence when addressing the needs of the student(s) and the means to enable them to achieve success.

Creative, innovative, and interesting lessons are my forte. I am experienced in providing a constructivist-based approach to knowledge acquisition. Hands-on lesson promote student involvement and increase the development of student responsibility towards their education. I have found that a cross-curriculum approach to the material being presented fosters true understanding and relevance.
I am a student of history and believe that knowledge acquisition comes from interest and enthusiasm on the part of the learner. This interest comes from having an instructor who them selves is a learner. A partnership in the tasks being presented usually results in the student wanting to understand the information and making connections. To promote critical thinking I present the material in a global manner, allowing the learner to relate the information/skill to the real-world.

For the past 7 years I have been teaching in a private school setting. Although classroom sizes are small, I am required to teach multiple subjects. More About This Tutor...

I love working with children; I began early on as a summer camp counselor for the Girl Scouts of America organization. Additionally I baby-sat throughout my undergraduate years and as mentioned child health became my focus during graduate school. I believe that learning is best achieved through tactile experiences that help the individual directly relate to the material being learned. I also believe that learning can be made fun and enjoyable for those willing to take the time to learn the needs of the individual.
I hold a M.A. in medical anthropology as well as a B.A. in cultural anthropology. Throughout graduate school I worked as a teaching assistant and upon graduation I taught biological and cultural anthropology courses for the University of Memphis's department of anthropology. The focus area of my graduate studies was child health; this resulted in working on numerous proje ... read more

Here is Some Good Information About Elementary Phonics Tutoring

Most children begin learning phonics by sounding out letters and learning what items represent that sound and that letter, i.e. A is for apple; A sounds like “aaaaaaaaaaaaaa”. Children begin learning phonics from parents, siblings, videos, and music at a very early age (2-4 years old) even before entering school. Phonics refers to a method for teaching speakers of English to read and write that language. Need help? Experts are waiting. Select a tutor now. Even though parents are the initial teachers, it will take a professional to instill all of the rules of phonics and to teach students decoding skills as they begin to read.
