A Little Bit About Me...

I have always loved being able to teach and instruct in areas that I am very familiar with. Working the past two years at Eastern Idaho Technical College with the students has enhanced this skill. Throughout college I had extensive experience working with classmates while we solved math equations and physics problems together. I did volunteer work teaching English to children in Mexico as well as teaching English to college age students in Mexico.
I like to first get an idea of what the student knows about the problem.. I find that the more time I spend listening to what they know it naturally turns into what pieces I need to add-in. Unless they came to the session to learn new material that would be a different scenario entirely in which it would depend on the student how I taught. I would have to find out what type of a learner they are. Whether it be a visual learner, if they need examples or are an entirely conceptual type of learner.

I enjoy teaching children math because so many seem to struggle in this area, especially in confidence. I believe when given the chance of success in math, all children can gain the confidence needed to successfully accomplish the needed requirements by themselves in the future. I believe math is learned when it is made into real-life experiences and also when it is performed numerous times.
