I have also worked at the ISU student Math center in Idaho falls in 2010 and 2011. Most of my experience is working with students that strugle with math. Throughout college I had extensive experience working with classmates while we solved math equations and physics problems together. I did volunteer work teaching English to children in Mexico as well as teaching English to college age students in Mexico.
I like to first get an idea of what the student knows about the problem.. I find that the more time I spend listening to what they know it naturally turns into what pieces I need to add-in. Unless they came to the session to learn new material that would be a different scenario entirely in which it would depend on the student how I taught. I would have to find out what type of a learner they are. Whether it be a visual learner, if they need examples or are an entirely conceptual type of learner.

I have a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering but because of my love of math, I took several advanced math courses in college and almost graduated with a minor in math. Last year, I tutored students at Sandcreek Middle school on weekly basis and one student privately at Hillview Elementary (1st grader). I have three children of my own who I assist in math and have taught them in the past.
I enjoy teaching children math because so many seem to struggle in this area, especially in confidence.
