I encourage students to question problem solving methods in order to understand the fundamentals. After an explanation of the material I often follow up with several example problems to help students test their mastery of the subject. I do not emphasize memorizing equations, because students do not learn about the physical phenomena by memorization. I have found that although by following some examples to solve one or two problems may be a quick way to achieve a short term success, however, the students would forget them quickly and when the situations have some minor changes, they may not be able to solve the problem by themselves again. I think one can understand a problem and its solution once they see how problems have a certain methods of approach.
