In 2007 I had the wonderful opportunity of being one of two teachers at the Ann Arbor Academy's lower school for students with learning disabilities. I have worked as a Teacher's Assistant for three years where I did extensive tutoring with one student over the course of the year. I substitute taught for two years where I learned a great deal about schools, particularly elementary schools and their various curriculum and expectations for grade levels. As well, I was a full time tutor and mentor for students at Pine Ridge Academy for a year while I lived in Burlington. I also teach the second grade religious school class at my temple. I am also a substitute teacher for a day school. I am currently in graduate school at Eastern Michigan University where I am pursuing a credential in k-12, emotional impairment and learning disabilities.

A Little Bit About Me...

I thoroughly love teaching as I come from a line of teachers myself. I have demonstrated that learning happens on multiple levels depending on what level one is working on. In my experience, I have learned that understanding is a process which involves listening, question and answer, humility, multiple approaches (including mixed media, visual and audio stimulus, humor, etc.), and a general openness to learn. Patience is key, and to learn is not just to memorize--it is to understand. Through the learning of the knowledge of relationships and the inter-working of things is understanding of subject material attained. We are all children, and as children we strive to break the barriers that close our minds.
