IMPROVE READING AND WRITING SCORES IN CLASS AND ON THE ACT.

I have been an AP Literature and Composition teacher as well as Twelfth grade Language Arts instructor for over 16 years. I am acutely aware of the needs of students as it relates to mastering reading and writing skills. I have also taught an ACT Prep course for the past 5 years after extensive training at workshops and conferences. I know the importance of identifying weaknesses in reading, writing, and on standardized tests such as the ACT and directing my instruction to those weaknesses. Worked as a teacher assistant for 10 years and the office for 5 years. I am use to an educational setting and is familiar with the education process of tutoring children. I have worked with fourth, fifth, and sixth graders in preparing them for MCT tests and exit exams. I have tutored in elementary english, math and computer. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Education. I loved working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, but it was extremely hard finding a job doing that in my area. Due to that fact, I started tutoring as many kids from the local schools as much as possible and I loved doing it. That also motivated me to work on adding endorsements to my teaching license so that I can teach regular education as well.
