I believe that each child has their own special style of learning in which they succeed the best at. When I tutor students I take the time to get to know each student on an individual basis and as a unique person. I make it a priority to determine their learning style and use that to implement a plan. I try and understand the reason they are having problems in their studies and then execute a plan in which they can succeed. I create study guides, review questions, and sample test questions for the students as well. In addition, a tutor can be a positive role model in student's lives and serve as a mentor and can be a person who the students can count on to answer questions.

I am value the “Teacher as facilitator” education model. Today, I classify my teaching style as a constructivist theory with humanist elements. I believe that a combination of these three models will ensure the greatest amount of learning for students as I prepare them for further education. Beginning as a student working towards my TEFL certificate, I volunteered at Somali Adult Literacy Training and organization which teaches English to Somalis in the Twin Cities. I continued volunteering with the same organization for 3 years. I have worked with a variety of skill levels and taught students on my own. Additionally, I have completed a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies at North Central University.
