I believe that conversation is an essential part of language learning. After teaching some basic vocabulary and grammar, I like to encourage students to place their fear of making mistakes to the side and converse as much as they are able to in the target language. Depending on the age and experience of the student, I like to incorporate teaching materials such as books, worksheets, articles on the internet in the target language and listening exercises, as well as interpretation of song lyrics that the student might enjoy, describing art pieces in the target language and anything else that the student might find interesting.
