My philosophy on education consists of repetition, consistency of lessons/homework assignments, and active participation amongst the students that would be expected and required. The class would have assignments that would not call for memorization, but for critical and analytic assessments that causes children to think outside of the regular norms. During the last semester of earning my BA in English, I was a tutor in the Reading and Writing Center at Eastern Kentucky University. When I was accepted to Florida State University to work on my Master's, I was also awarded a teaching assistantship. I have taught ENC 1102 and 1102 (freshman composition and research writing courses), and I developed and instructed an ENC 1142 Frehman Imaginative Writing course. Upon graduating with a BA in International Affairs and Spanish in the Spring of 2003, I traveled to India to work in an orphanage and school for orphaned and underpriviledged children. For six months, I taught a wide range of subjects, including Reading, Writing, History, Social Sciences and Math in a small classroom setting (10-30 students). Last summer, I traveled to Guatemala and Mexico to work in an orphanage for abused children, to where I also returned for the past Christmas break.
