A Little Bit About Me...

I have a background in study skills and educating others, as well as excellent communication skills and a lot of patience. I have done four years of math and chemistry (respectively) during high school, including elementary calculus and quantum mechanics. I have also done three years of Spanish with and without "Rosetta Stone" (total of one year with "Rosetta Stone"). I have also done quite a bit of work with young children.
In addition to providing help, I will also teach your student some important study skills regardless of the subject that he/she is studying. I personally believe in studying with the purpose of applying the subject in the real world, and will work with your student to develop a solid purpose for the material, as well as help him/her see how to apply the material. As an undergraduate at CSU, Sacramento I volunteered my time to tutor a student from the time she was in 6th grade through 8th grade. Tutoring was done mostly in math. I have a BA in Environmental Studies with a minor in Biology. I also have extensive experience using computer software, such as Microsoft Office and ArcGIS. During my college experience I was a part of many student study groups which involved asking help from others as well as offering guidance in subjects we felt strong in. I enjoy helping others learn and have a lot of patience during the learning/teaching process.
I like to use visual learning methods as well as memorization and recognition methods. Seeing a diagram is sometimes not enough.
