A Little Bit About Me...

I am a freshman at BYUI, studying to become a Physician's Assistant, and minoring in English. I love English, music, and history! I specialize in English mostly, as I took many AP and Honors English classes in high school. I also scored a 30 on my english ACT and a 28 on my reading ACT! I can teach music as well, for I have been playing piano for about 10 years. I teach from the core of a person they have the inner agency to choose to succeed and they can succeed if they desire to be great they will be great. Also I believe in teaching through the nine learning intelligences as well as the six thinking hats. Also I teach by blooms taxonomy up to synthesis and evaluation. I am up to date and have read many books and taught in these styles.
I have been a teacher and tutor for a few years. I taught in a high school English and Music. Right after I graduated High school I was asked to help struggling students and teach a bit when the teacher was gone. Also I have worked in Elementary schools I have taught lessons at least once a week. I have been in teaching methods classes and I have take Education psychology. I have also been able to in three months encourage students to improve grades that are at a 50% low to a 90-100% high.

A Little Bit About Me...

I've gained experience with teaching in an array of ways. Firstly, I'm a recent graduate from BYU-Idaho in Piano Performance earning my Bachelor of Musical Arts. Throughout my training as a professional pianist I studied piano pedagogy and now have a functioning piano studio of my own. In addition, I was a music tutor and teachers assistant helping my fellow students grasp music theory concepts. Furthermore, I worked as a youth counselor at a summer camp called Outdoor Youth Activities (OYA) where we specialized in working with young teens. Here I had a chance to guide and counsel with teens in large groups and also a one on one personal basis.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in the Socratic Method. Through this tutoring method, the student is asked questions to help them develop understanding on their own. Through this discovery style, the students actually learn in ways that will be remembered most. I believe that any child, teenager, or adult can learn most effectively through their own discovery, with my help and guidance. I believe in having "ah-ha!" moments, and the feeling of relief and excitement when connections are made, and learning happens. That's what I want for my students.

I knew I wanted to be a teacher from the time that I was a Kindergartner. That may seem to be a silly dream for a five-year-old, but I have always loved education. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in April of 2010, and my Idaho Teaching Certificate in September of 2010. I am state certified to teach all subjects for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. I have a musical background, mostly vocal, and experience with children who have ADD/ADHD and Tourette's Syndrome. I have a passion for reading, and so follows a passion for teaching reading and comprehension. I am also literate in Spanish, having taken 7 years of Spanish classes myself.
