Never tell a child when you can ask him.

I have 6 years of substitute teaching experience in the Washoe County School District in Nevada, as well as at a charter school. Substitute teaching has allowed me to work with children from preschool to grade 12, in all subjects. I have worked twice as a preschool teacher, once at the E.L. Cord Child Care Center at TMCC in Reno, and again at His Kids Preschool, using A Beka Book curriculum to teach 2-4 year olds. Additionally, through the College of Education in the University of Nevada, Reno, I have completed several practica. I have a fairly easy going personality, but know when to crack down if students are getting off topic or out of hand. I'm very approachable and happy.
I graduated from Sonoma State with a BA in English, Single subject emphasis. I am taking a year off before I go back to get my teaching credential in reading. The majority of my classes were geared towards the teaching of reading and writing and I feel confident in my ability to help students improve in those areas. I also worked in a High School writing center and tutored for the past two semesters. I love being around kids and helping them. Currently I live in Tahoe City, but am more than willing to drive to Reno or other areas as well.
