I've worked as a Learning Specialist for 6 years. I started at Mercy Learning in Mandeville and now have a private practice. I trained and began contracting to the Mercy Learning Center, Mandeville Campus as a Learning Specialist for nearly three years. While on staff at MLC I gained valuable insight working with children of differing diagnoses and levels of need, their parents, and clinical care providers. A Little Bit About Me...

All throughout high school I tutored younger kids with homework or specific needs in classes. I'm very flexible and very hands-on with my teaching. As a visual learner, it helps me to have a visual aid whenever I can and I employ that in my teaching. My strategy is to make learning fun for the students. I have a BS in Environmental Science with a Chemistry minor. I also have a MS in Environmental/Soil Science. As a NASA scholar and Research Assistant, I taught undergraduate students Soil Science Lab Classes. I have tutored Elementary level reading and writing as a volunteer. I have also tutored Middle School level Math to several students. I am a substitute teacher in Louisiana and I am currently working on my teacher certification.
Because I am a very patient and detail oriented person, I feel it is best to adapt my teaching style to the student's learning style. I would first make that evaluation to determine how best to approach teaching the student. I enjoy using hands-on examples and Powerpoint presentations in teaching.
