A Little Bit About Me...

I love and respect all children and try to meet them where they are. I am very perceptive at times and don't give up easy. If one thing doesn't work, I'd try another. I believe in good education that develops the person, not just prepare them to contribute to society and to make a living.
Along with 7 other students, I was directly hired out of college to teach 7th grade English. Along with my 4 years of Latin experience, it increased my abilities in the grammatical aspect of the English language. I also tutored college students while I was attending in first yr Latin and math. I took 4 yrs of French in high school, graduated Shenendehowa in 1974. I enjoy working with kids in small groups or one on one. I am a mother of 11 children, the youngest is now 7. I also believe I could assist a first year algebra student or younger.

I enjoy teaching and believe that all students can learn. There are many ways to interest them; and with technology, all students will research and work with language and culture. I have had great success with students on a one-to-one basis. In language learning, some students have needed out-of-class time to work privately with me. I have also advised students and interested them in doing projects for club activities.

I really would like to help make a difference in someone's life and help them understand academics just like myself. When I try to teach someone, I always explain to them the subject as basic and simple as possible. I give a few examples, and then help them figure it out themselves. When/ if they struggle, I will be there to help set them back on track.
I am finishing up my Bachelors degree in Dietetics at SUNY Oneonta- I will be graduated in December. I have been offered positions as a chemistry tutor but denied because of my other jobs. I was a student mentor for a year in high school to students that were "slacking" or wasn't understanding one or more of their classes. I worked at Albany ARC and worked to train young adults and adults in the kitchen- which also included basic skills such as counting and reading.

A Little Bit About Me...

I don't think there is anything better than the feeling of helping a child learn. Every student have the ability to learn, we have to adapt our teaching styles so that all students can understand. Our job as teachers is to prepare students for their future. Through education and a caring, nurturing and creative teacher, that is what I hope to give all my students, a future. I began school as a Biology major for 2 years, so I have a great science background. I love to teach children. I finished my Masters program in December 07 and began teaching at the school I did my internship at, Briarcliff MS. I taught grades 6-8 and filled in for a Special Ed teacher at the end of the year. I have obtained my Master's Degree in Philosophy and Critical Thought from the French University "Paris VIII". My primary experience has been in politics and philosophy, and has contained, as non-academic experience, involvement in small political groups dealing with specific issues affecting society at large. Learning philosophy has meant a strong knowledge of the English as well as French languages, including a strong background in European history dealing primarily with the period slightly before the French Revolution in France up to the present day, including spots of history in Europe previous to 1775.
