I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, in 1989. Since graduation I have worked as both a full-time teacher and a substitute teacher. I have taught full-time at five different traditional schools and Florida Virtual School. In these positions, I have taught Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry, Algebra I, 7th Grade Math, 8th Grade Math, Computer Applications, and various general math courses. I have also worked as a private tutor off and on since college with students K-12 and adult in all levels of math.

After finishing undergraduate courses, I worked for a program that sent college students out to public schools to be Teacher's Aids. We were expected to help any students who were falling behind in a subject. The experience was so rewarding that after graduation, I took a position working with troubled students convicted of sexual assault, teaching them math and science for six months. After graduating college, I served in the US Army for six years as a Chemical Defense Officer. My primary duty was to ensure that all 17,000 soldiers in the 1st Cavalry Division were trained and equipped to properly deal with chemical and biological hazards. To effectively and efficiently complete this duty, I was constantly teaching, coaching and mentoring both fellow officers as well as enlisted soldiers.
