During my study towards at BS in Chemistry I published a paper with a professor doing electrochemical research. I currently work at a small manufacturing company where I purchase raw materials, formulate products, supervise the manufacturing process and check the quality of the end product. Through my studies and work I have learned to apply analytical thinking to real world problems for results. During the past decade I have tutored in mathematics, science, philosophy, photography and literature.
I love helping children see the beauty in the world we live. That can be through solving a math problem that they struggled with or helping them learn from their mistakes. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a great deal of experience in educating students. I have earned my BA from Northern Illinois University in Communications, and I also have earned my MAT from Rockford College in Education. I have had my Type-03 Elementary Teaching Certificate since April of 2009. I have worked as a special education aide, student taught sixth grade language arts, and in the past year I have been a substitute teacher in Winnebago and Ogle County. I have taken many classes in reading, writing,and grammar. I have learned different ways to learn, as well as as different ways to teach and I would enjoy sharing my knowledge.

I have wanted to be a teacher all my life. I love working with children and teaching. I believe that children are the future and should be given the opportunity to do well and succeed in school. I like to do my best to teach students how to do something and then let them discover and practice how to do it for themselves on their own. I have always been a reader and a writer. In my degree work, I learned how to inspire others to read critically and write well. I have many years experience as a college-level instructor. I also work locally with high school students at my church. In addition, I have worked at Writing Centers at several institutions. I also have helped with successful grant writing for several local organizations.
My classrooms involve learning-centered groups in a workshop approach. I find that students are encouraged by the examples of other writers and learners at their own levels. I provide a great deal of individual feedback on assignments. I encourage the imitation of examples in writing and the discovery of other writing styles. I am sensitive to the needs and learning needs of each student.
